உலகப் புத்தக நாளை கொண்டாடும் வண்ணம், இளம் தலைமுறையினரிடையே புத்தகம் வாசிக்கும் பழக்கத்தைத் தூண்டும் விதமாக கடந்த 2013ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் பெரியார் சுயமரியாதைப் பிரச்சார நிறுவனம், நேஷனல் புக் டிரஸ்ட், இந்தியா-வுடன் இணைந்து சென்னை புத்தகச் சங்கமம் என்னும் பெயரில் ஒரு மாபெரும் புத்தகக் காட்சியை நடத்தி வருகிறது.

இந்த ஆண்டு "சென்னை புத்தகச் சங்கமம்" வரும் ஏப்ரல் 13ஆம் தேதி முதல் 23ஆம் தேதி முடிய 11 நாட்கள் சென்னை இராயப்பேட்டை ஒய்.எம்.சி.ஏ மைதானத்தில் நடைபெறுகிறது. 13ஆம் தேதி மாலை 6 மணிக்கு தொடக்க விழா நடைபெறுகிறது. வார நாட்களில் புத்தகச் சங்கமம் பகல் 2 மணி முதல் இரவு 9 மணி வரையிலும், ஏப்ரல் 14, 18, 19 ஆகிய விடுமுறை நாட்களில் மட்டும் காலை 11 மணிக்கு தொடங்கி இரவு 9 மணி வரையிலும் நடைபெறும்.

புத்தகக் காட்சியுடன் பல்வேறு பதிப்பாளர்கள், எழுத்தாளர்கள் மற்றும் வாசகர்கள் கலந்துகொள்ளும் பதிப்பாளர்களுக்கான பயிலரங்கம், சான்றோர் பெருமக்களின் சொற்பொழிவுகள், கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள், புத்தக வாசிப்பினை வளர்க்கும் வகையில் சிந்தித்து தொண்டாற்றும் பெருமக்களுக்கு விருதுகள் வழங்கும் விழா உள்பட பல்வேறு நிகழ்வுகள் நடைபெற உள்ளன.

புத்தக அரங்குகள்

தமிழகம் மற்றும் பிற மாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்த தமிழ் நிறுவனங்களும், ஆங்கில நிறுவனங்களும், மல்டிமீடியா நிறுவனங்களும் பங்குபெறும் வகையில், இந்த ஆண்டு சென்னை புத்தகச் சங்கமத்தில் அரங்குகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

10% கழிவுடன் பல்துறைப் புத்தகங்கள்

இந்தக் கண்காட்சியில் பல்துறை சார்ந்த தமிழ் மற்றும் ஆங்கில பதிப்பகங்கள் பங்கேற்கின்றன. இப்புத்தகச் சங்கமத்தின் விற்பனை அரங்கத்தில் இலக்கியம், அறிவியல், குழந்தைகளுக்கான நூல்கள், விளையாட்டு, பொருளாதாரம், பகுத்தறிவு, பொழுதுபோக்கு உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்துத் துறை சார்ந்த லட்சக்கணக்கான தலைப்புகளில் புத்தகங்கள் ஒரே இடத்தில் 10ரூ கழிவு விலையில் கிடைக்கும்.

சிறப்புக் கழிவு 15%

உலகப் புத்தக நாளான ஏப்ரல்-23 அன்று (கூடுதலாக 5ரூ கழிவு வழங்கப்பட்டு) 15ரூ சிறப்புக் கழிவில் அனைத்து அரங்குகளிலும் புத்தகங்கள் கிடைக்கும்.

துவக்க விழா

இந்த மாபெரும் புத்தக் காட்சியை தென்னிந்தியாவிற்கான மலேசியத் தூதர் மாண்புமிகு சித்ரா தேவி ராமய்யா (மலேசியத் துணை தூதரகம், சென்னை) அவர்கள் ஏப்ரல்-13 அன்று மாலை 6 மணியளவில் துவக்கி வைக்க உள்ளார்கள்.

கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள்

நாள்தோறும் மாலை 6 மணிக்கு கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடைபெறும். புத்தர் கலைக் குழுவினரின் மக்கள் பறை, சன் டி.வி. புகழ் மாயக்காட்சி வித்தகர் சு.கலைவாணன் வழங்கும் வியப்பூட்டும் மாயக்காட்சிகள், தென்றல் குழந்தைகள் மன்றம் நல்லிசைப் பாடல்கள் - நாட்டுப்புற நடனம், விஜய் டி.வி. புகழ் பழனி பட்டாளம், ஜார்ஜ் மற்றும் ஜெயச்சந்திரன் வழங்கும் பல்கலை நகைச்சுவை நிகழ்ச்சி, கலை அறப் பேரவை மு.கலைவாணன் வழங்கும் புதுமையான பொம்மலாட்டம் புதியதோர் உலகம் செய்வோம், இன்னிசை ஏந்தல் திருபுவனம் கு.ஆத்மநாதன் வழங்கும் தமிழ் இசைப் பாடல்கள் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு வகையான கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் இடம் பெறுகின்றன.

பதிப்பாளர்கள் பயனுள்ள வகையில் நாள்தோறும் மேடைகளில் தங்களின் நூல்களை வெளியிட வாய்ப்பு ஏற்படுத்தித் தரப்படும். எழுத்தாளர்களுடன் நேருக்கு நேர் வாசகர்கள் சந்திக்கும் வண்ணம் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

விவாத அரங்கு

எழுத்தாளர்கள், படைப்பாளர்களுடனான சந்திப்பு மற்றும் இளைஞர்கள் பங்கேற்கும் விவாத அரங்கு நாள்தோறும் மாலை 4.30 மணி முதல் 6 மணி வரை நடைபெறுகிறது. எழுத்தாளர் மனுஷ்யபுத்திரன் இந்த அரங்கை ஒருங்கிணைக்கிறார்.

குறும்படத் திரையிடல்

மதிய வேளைகளில் குறும்படத் திரையிடலும் நடைபெறவுள்ளது. இதில் நிழல், தமிழ் ஸ்டுடியோ, மறுபக்கம், பூவுலகு, பெரியார் சுயமரியாதை ஊடகத் துறை உள்ளிட்ட திரைப்பட அமைப்புகளின் சார்பில் இத்திரையிடல்கள் ஒருங்கிணைக்கப்படுகின்றன.

'புத்தகர் விருது' வழங்கும் விழா

சிறுவர்-சிறுமியர்களுக்கான போட்டிகள் - பரிசுகள்

5 வயது முதல் 14 வயதுக்குட்பட்ட சிறுவர்-சிறுமியர்களுக்கான போட்டி நிகழ்ச்சிகள் ஏப்ரல்-18, 20, 21, 22 ஆகிய நான்கு நாட்கள் நடைபெற உள்ளன. புத்தகக் கொடை விழா

இப்புத்தகச் சங்கமத்தில் புத்தக வங்கி ஏற்படுத்தி வாசகர்கள் ஏற்கெனவே வாங்கிப் படித்த புத்தகங்களை அடுத்த தலைமுறைக்குத் தந்து உதவும் பண்பை வளர்க்கும் நோக்குடன், சுமார் ஒரு இலட்சம் புத்தகங்களைச் சேகரிக்கும் இலக்கு நிர்ணயம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட புத்தகங்கள் பல்வேறு சிற்றூர்களில் செயல்படும் பள்ளிக்கூடங்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும், புத்தகங்களை நன்கொடையாக வழங்குபவர்களுக்கு சிறப்புச் சலுகையுடன் கூடிய கூப்பன்கள் வழங்கப்படும். அதன் மூலம் அவர்கள் சிறப்புக் கழிவுடன் கூடிய புதிய புத்தகங்கள் வாங்கிப் பயன்பெறலாம்.

விழிப்புணர்வு நடைப்பயணம் (WALKATHON)
உலகப் புத்தக நாளை முன்னிட்டு ஏப்ரல் 19ஆம் தேதி காலை சென்னை மெரினா கடற்கரையில் உள்ள உழைப்பாளர் சிலை முதல் காந்தி சிலை வரை புத்தக வாசிப்பு ஆர்வத்தை வளர்க்கும் நோக்கில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மாணவர்கள் பங்கேற்கும் விழிப்புணர்வு நடைப்பயணம் (Walkathon) நடைபெறுகிறது.

உணவுத் திருவிழா
கோடை விடுமுறையை சிறப்பாகக் கொண்டாடும் இந்த நிகழ்வின் ஓர் அங்கமாக உணவுத் திருவிழாவும் நடைபெறுகிறது. இதில் மாநிலம் முழுவதுமுள்ள வட்டார சிறப்பு உணவுகளும், நொறுக்கு உணவுப் பண்டங்களும் கிடைக்கும் வகையில் சிறப்பான உணவு அரங்குகள் அமைக்கப்படவுள்ளன.

13 ஆம் தேதி தொடங்கி 23 ஆம் தேதி முடிய இராயப்பேட்டை ஒய்.எம்.சி.ஏ மைதானத்தில் நடைபெறும் சென்னை புத்தகச் சங்கமம் நிகழ்வு சென்னை மக்களுக்கும், கோடை விடுமுறையை சென்னையில் கழிக்க வரும் குழந்தைகள், மாணவர்கள், பெரியவர்கள் என அனைவருக்கும் பயனுள்ள வகையில் நடைபெறும்.

பார்வையாளருக்கு சுத்தமான குடிநீர் தாராளமாக கிடைக்க வசதிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. சுகாதாரமான கழிவறை வசதிகளுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. புத்தகங்களை கடன் அட்டையைப் (Credit Card) பயன்படுத்தி வாங்கவும், IOBவங்கியின் நடமாடும் ATMமில் இருந்து பணம் எடுப்பதற்கும் வசதிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. முதலுதவி சிகிச்சை வசதிகள் கொண்ட உயிர்காக்கும் மருந்துகள் அடங்கிய நடமாடும் மருத்துவமனை ஒன்றும் செயல்படும். நுழைவுக் கட்டணம் ரூ.10/- மட்டுமே. 12 வயதுக்கு உட்பட்டவர்களுக்கு நுழைவுக் கட்டணம் கிடையாது. பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு நாள்தோறும் சிறப்புப் பரிசுகளும் உண்டு.

To commemorate The World Book Day and to inculcate the habit of book reading among the youth, The Periyar Self Respect Propaganda Institution(PSRPI), in association with National Book Trust, India (Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India) is organizing a mega book fair “Chennai Puthaga Sangamam” for the third consecutive year.

This year, Chennai Puthaga Sangamam will be conducted for 11 days from 13 – 23 April, 2015, at YMCA grounds, Royapettah, Chennai. The inaugural function will be held on 13th April at 6 p.m. The book fair will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on week days and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekend days and holidays (14^th, 18^th & 19^th).

Besides the book fair, Chennai Puthaga Sangaman will also feature allied programs like, lectures by eminent personalities, cultural programs, children activities and awards to personalities who have actively worked towards inculcating reading habits.

BOOK STALLS

The book stalls are such a way arranged in this year’s Book Fair to enable the publishing houses of Tamil Nadu and from other states including publishers of English books and multimedia institutions to participate.

WIDE SPECTRUM OF BOOKS WITH 10% DISCOUNT

The participating publishers offer a wide spectrum of the various genres of books - literature, science, children’s books, sports, economics, fiction, self development and others. The titles on display will be nearly one lakh titles at a discount of 10% on the price of each book.

SPECIAL DISCOUNT OF 15%

Special discount of 5% will be additionally extended i.e. 15% on 23rd April, the World Book Day.

INAUGURAL FUNCTION

Her Excellency Ms.Chitra Devi Ramiah, Consul General of Malaysia for Southern India has kindly consented to inaugurate the function at 6.00 p.m. on April 13.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

Every evening from 6.00 pm for almost an hour, cultural programs including folk arts, drama, music and bommalattam have been organized on all days of the book fair. The programme of ‘Makkal Parai’ (Peoples’ Drum) by Buddhar Arts Troupe, Magic Shows of Sun TV fame S.Kalaivanan, Melodious Songs by Thendral Childrens Manram, new type of Bommalattam by Kalai Arapperavi M.Kalaivanan, and Comedy Show by Vijay TV fame Palani Pattalam, George & Jeyachandran will also take place.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Eminent personalities ‘Ilakkiya Selvar’ Kumari Anandan, ‘Ilakiya Thendral’ Pazha Karuppiah, Writer Imayam, Writer Pamaran, Director Seenu Ramasamy, Psychotherapist Dr.Shalini, Prof. Saroan Senthil and scholars will deliver special lectures at 7 p.m. in the evenings on the days mentioned below.

AUTHOR’S CORNER

Authors’ Corner is an exclusive space within the Fair venue to provide a platform to the authors where they can interact with the visitors and their readers, and share with them their experiences, literary journey, talk about their books and much more. This meeting will be conducted everyday from 4.30pm to 6pm by renowned writer Manushyaputhiran.

SHORT FILM SCREENING

Short Film will be screened during the noon hours. Nizhal, Tamil Studio, Marupakkam, Poovulagu, The Periyar Self-Respect Media Department and other visual media organisations contribute and coordinate this short film screening.

BOOKER AWARD

In appreciation of the noble services rendered by ‘Palam’ Kalynasundaram, T.Stalin Gunasekaran, ‘Vanathi’ Ramanathan, Madurai Murugesan, ‘Nool” Pandian in preserving the valuable books and in inculcating the good habit of reading books among people, the function of conferring Booker Award for 2015 will take place in the evening of 17-4-2015.

BOOK BANK SCHEME

In order to facilitate book readers to hand over used books to other willing readers, a book bank has been created at the Book Fair and it has been planned to collect nearly one lakh books through this book bank. These books will be donated to various schools in small towns and villages across our state. The donors will be given special coupons that will give them discount on book purchases in the book fair. This noble initiative was started last year.

COMPETITIONS FOR CHILDREN

The following Competitions will be held for the boys and girls upto the age of 14 on the days noted against them. These competitions are in the nature of developing the thinking faculty of the children through Fun, Learn and Compete. Prizes will be distributed to the winners of the competitions.

WALKATHON

To commemorate the World Book Day Celebrations a Walkathon has been organized on 19^th April, at Chennai, with thousands of students, from Labour Statue to Gandhi Statue on the Marina Beach at 7.00 am.

LIVE TELECAST

A website www.chennaiputhagasangamam.com has been created that will help the public to know about the events, publishers and facility to enroll in the competitions. The programs that will be held in the book fair will be telecast live at this website to help reach out to the millions of book lovers outside of Chennai.

FOOD COURT & OTHER ARRANGEMENTS

Food Festival has also been organized as a part and parcel of this celebration of The World Book Day during this Summer. Special restaurants where we can get Special Food items of each region of our state, savouries, snacks etc. are being arranged in the book fair.

This Chennai Puthaga Sangamam being held from 13^th April to 23^rd April, 2015 at the Y.M.C.A. Grounds, Royapettah, Chennai can be very usefully utilized by the people of Chennai and by the people and children coming to Chennai to spend the summer vacation.

Arrangements have also been made to provide safe potable drinking water to the visitors and clean hygienic lavatories. Facilities are provided to purchase books through credit cards and for withdrawing money through IOB ATM. A mobile medical van with first aid facilities and life saving drugs will also be available at the Book Fair.

The entrance fee per adult is Rs. 10/-. No entrance fee will be collected for students below the age of 12. Special prizes will be awarded daily to the visitors.
